BREAKING NEWS: NFL star Chad Johnson has been suspended for the remainder of the season. During last week’s game, Johnson was found down on one knee during the national anthem, but for a different reason you may suspect.
Recently, the NFL passed a policy stating that the league can punish any franchise out of disrespect for the flag or the song itself. This has been a long debate since ex-49ers player Colin Kaepernick first exercised his right by kneeling during a game in order to protest police brutality.
The main difference here is that Johnson, did not intend to do it for political reasons, but simply because he needed to tie his shoes.
“I can’t believe this is happening to me,” shouted Johnson in disgust. “Check the cameras! Didn’t they see me almost trip and fall while running out on the field? I just needed to tie my shoe, man. This is completely ludicrous.”
Johnson apparently came out on to the field, began to tie his shoes, when unluckily the anthem began to start playing. Possibly he was not quick enough because he did not finish until the anthem ended. Though Johnson played for the rest of the game, the franchise received a call a few days later and informed them of the news. Johnson has been suspended indefinitely and fined $10M.
We will keep you up to date when more details emerge and Johnson is able to play again.
